Intercom Integration Overview

What This App Does

JustCall enables you to make calls and send text messages to Intercom customers while receiving incoming calls logged as conversations. Key capabilities include:

  1. Make calls and send text messages via click to call and text icons next to phone numbers in Intercom
  2. Calls are logged with recording links, with selective logging options for voicemails and missed calls
  3. Reply to incoming text messages through conversations or view SMS discussions in the conversation sidebar

How to Set Up the App

Step 1: Connect JustCall and Intercom

Log in to your JustCall account and navigate to the integrations section. Select the Integrate button next to Intercom and follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively, use the direct app.intercom.com link if already logged in. Ensure all team members complete this step.

Step 2: Install Chrome Extension

Install the Chrome extension to get click to call and text icons next to phone numbers on Intercom. This allows quick texting and calling directly from Intercom.

Step 3: Configure Events

Access the integrations section and click the settings icon next to your Intercom connection. Select which events should create conversations in Intercom.

How to Use the App

Making Calls and Sending Text Messages

With the Chrome extension installed, use the click-to-call and text icons adjacent to phone numbers to initiate communications.

Reply to Text Messages from Inbox App

Use the Inbox app to check incoming and outgoing text messages with a customer. You can even send new text messages or reply to incoming text messages straight from this app.

Reply from Intercom Conversations

Premium plan users can request this feature to send SMS replies directly from Intercom conversations, displaying messages in a conversational format.

Logging Phone Calls

You can have your missed calls, voicemails, outgoing and incoming calls logged as conversations or events, helping track all customer interactions.

Additional Use Cases

  • Install the Intercom Inbox sidebar app to manage all SMS conversations and replies
  • Upgrade to Premium and contact support to enable text reply functionality within conversations
