Predictive Dialer: Getting Started

Run outbound campaigns3 min readUpdated 2026-03-14

The Predictive Dialer calls multiple numbers simultaneously per agent — up to 10 parallel lines — and connects answered calls to available agents. It maximizes talk time by reducing idle time between conversations.

Plan required: SalesPro ($249/user/mo). Pro Plus users can be added to Predictive campaigns but cannot create them.

Step 1: Create a Campaign

  1. Go to Sales Dialer > Campaigns.
  2. Click New Campaign and select Predictive Dialer.
  3. Name the campaign and assign agents who will handle connected calls.

Step 2: Add Contacts

Upload contacts via CSV or CRM import. The Predictive Dialer works best with large lists — the algorithm needs volume to optimize dial pacing.

Recommended minimum: 200+ contacts per campaign for effective pacing.

Step 3: Configure Key Settings

SettingWhat to configure
Max calls per agentSet how many lines dial simultaneously per agent (1–10). Start with 3–4 and increase based on connect rates.
AMD (Answering Machine Detection)Toggle on to filter voicemails automatically. Expect ~75% accuracy with a 4–5 second detection delay.
Voicemail Drop After BeepRequires AMD enabled. Automatically drops a pre-recorded message when AMD detects a machine.
Abandoned Call HandlingConfigure what happens when a prospect answers but no agent is available (e.g., play a message, queue for callback).
Caller IDSelect your outbound number. Local Presence Dialing works with Predictive campaigns.

Step 4: Start the Campaign

  1. Click Start Campaign. The dialer begins calling multiple contacts per agent.
  2. When a prospect answers and AMD confirms a live person, the call routes to an available agent.
  3. Agents log dispositions after each call. The dialer continues automatically.

When to Use Predictive vs Power

Important Considerations

  • AMD delay: Prospects who answer may wait 4–5 seconds before hearing an agent. This can increase hang-ups.
  • Abandoned calls: If all agents are busy when a prospect answers, the call is "abandoned." Monitor your abandonment rate and reduce parallel lines if it exceeds 3%.
  • Re-runnable: Predictive campaigns can be re-run after completion, unlike Dynamic Dialer campaigns.
