SMS Settings: Configure Your Messaging Preferences

Control how SMS works across your JustCall account. Set your default outbound number, configure notifications, manage signatures, and control messaging permissions per number.


Access SMS Settings

Go to Settings → SMS Settings in the JustCall sidebar. Settings are organized into these sections:

  • General
  • Notifications
  • Permissions
  • Compliance

General Settings

Default SMS number

Choose which JustCall number is pre-selected when you start a new SMS conversation. See Set a Default SMS Number for details.

Auto-signature

Add a signature that appends to every outbound message you send.

  1. Toggle Auto-Signature on.
  2. Type your signature text (e.g., "– Sarah, Acme Support").
  3. Click Save.

Note: The signature counts toward your SMS character limit. A 30-character signature means your message content has 130 characters before it splits into a second segment.

Message logging

Control whether SMS conversations are logged to your connected CRM:

Notification Settings

Desktop notifications

Toggle browser notifications for incoming SMS. Notifications show the sender's number (or name, if saved) and a message preview.

Email notifications

Receive email alerts for:

  • New incoming SMS on unassigned conversations
  • Missed SMS (messages received when you're offline)
  • Daily SMS summary digest

In-app notifications

Configure the notification badge and sound for incoming messages in the JustCall web and desktop apps.

Notification routing

Choose who gets notified when a message arrives on a shared number:

  • All team members on the number
  • Assigned agent only (if the conversation has an owner)
  • Round-robin next (notify the next agent in rotation)

Per-Number Messaging Permissions

Control SMS capabilities on each phone number:

  1. Go to Settings → Phone Numbers.
  2. Click the number you want to configure.
  3. Under Messaging, configure:

MMS enabledOn/Off — disable media messages if not needed
International SMSOn/Off — allow sending to international numbers
Incoming SMSOn/Off — disable inbound SMS on specific numbers

Compliance Settings

Opt-out management

View and manage your opt-out list under SMS Settings → Compliance → Opt-Out List. See SMS Opt-In and Opt-Out.

10DLC status

View your brand and campaign registration status. See 10DLC Registration Guide.

Toll-free verification

Check verification status for toll-free numbers used for SMS.
