How to Search SMS Conversations in JustCall
Find any SMS conversation by phone number or message content. The search bar is always visible at the top of your inbox.
Available on: Team plan and above
How to Search
- Click the search bar at the top of the SMS Inbox. It is always visible.
- Type what you are looking for:
- A phone number (full or partial)
- A word or phrase from a message
- Click "Search this across all conversation" to search all conversations for the selected JustCall number.

Viewing Search Results
Search results show matching conversations in the conversation list. Click any result to open the full conversation thread.

What You Can Search For
| Search by | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number | +1 555 0123 or 5550123 | Full or partial number. Searches within the selected JustCall number's inbox. |
| Message content | invoice or appointment confirmed | Searches the text of all messages in your conversations for the selected number. |
Searching a Different Number's Inbox
Search works within the JustCall number you currently have selected. To search a different number's conversations:
- Click the phone number dropdown at the top-left of the inbox.
- Select the JustCall number you want to search.
- Use the search bar to search within that number's conversations.
This is useful when:
- You know which JustCall number the customer contacted.
- You want to check conversations for a specific business line or team number.
Combining Search with Filters
After searching, you can apply filters to narrow your results further:
- Search for a phone number, then filter by Unread to find new messages from that contact.
- Search for a keyword, then filter by Closed to review resolved conversations about that topic.

Tips
Search before scrolling. Searching is faster than scrolling through your conversation list, especially if you have many active conversations.
Use phone numbers for precise results. Phone number searches return exact matches and are the fastest way to find a specific customer's conversation.
Switch numbers if needed. Search covers the selected JustCall number's inbox. If you do not find what you need, switch numbers using the dropdown and search again.
