Unregistered 10DLC Shutdown FAQ
Unregistered 10DLC Shutdown FAQ
Since September 1, 2023, all SMS and MMS sent to US phone numbers from unregistered 10DLC numbers are fully blocked. Here's what you need to know.
FAQ
Q: What happened? US carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) now block all messages from 10DLC numbers that are not registered with a valid brand and campaign through the Campaign Registry (TCR).
Q: When did blocking start? Gradual blocking began July 5, 2023. Full blocking took effect September 1, 2023.
Q: Are my messages being blocked? If you send SMS to US numbers from a +1 10DLC number and haven't completed 10DLC registration, yes — your messages are being blocked.
Q: How do I fix this? Complete 10DLC Registration in JustCall: register your brand, register a campaign, and associate your numbers.
Q: Does this affect toll-free numbers? No — toll-free numbers have a separate verification process. But unverified toll-free numbers may also face filtering.
Q: Does this affect short codes? No — short codes have their own carrier approval process.
Q: Does this affect Canadian numbers? No — this applies only to US-destined messages from +1 10DLC numbers.
Q: I registered but messages are still failing. Why? Check that your numbers are associated with your approved campaign. Also verify your campaign wasn't rejected — check status under Settings → 10DLC → Campaigns.
Q: Can I get an exemption? No. Registration is mandatory for all businesses sending A2P messages to US recipients via 10DLC numbers.
