Messaging Throughput for US Carriers
Your messaging speed depends on your number type, registration status, and carrier-specific throughput rules.
Throughput by Number Type
| Number Type | AT&T | T-Mobile | Verizon |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10DLC (High trust) | 12+ MPS | 50+ MPS | Varies |
| 10DLC (Medium trust) | 4 MPS | 10 MPS | Varies |
| 10DLC (Low trust) | 0.2 MPS | 0.5 MPS | Varies |
| Toll-free (verified) | ~3 MPS | ~3 MPS | ~3 MPS |
| Toll-free (unverified) | Throttled/blocked | Throttled/blocked | Throttled/blocked |
| Short code | 100+ MPS | 100+ MPS | 100+ MPS |
MPS = messages per second.
Daily Caps (T-Mobile)
T-Mobile enforces daily message caps based on 10DLC trust score:
| Trust Score | Daily Cap |
|---|---|
| Low | 2,000 messages |
| Medium | 10,000 messages |
| High | 200,000+ messages |
AT&T and Verizon do not publish explicit daily caps but apply throughput throttling.
