10DLC Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need 10DLC if I only receive texts (never send)?

No. 10DLC only applies to outbound SMS. If your number only receives incoming messages, registration is not required.

Can I still send SMS while my registration is pending?

Yes, but with severe limitations. Unregistered numbers are throttled to 1 message per second and face high carrier filtering. Many messages may not be delivered. Register before you start sending at any meaningful volume.

Do I need separate registrations for each phone number?

No. You register one brand and one or more campaigns. You then assign phone numbers to campaigns. Multiple numbers can share a campaign.

How many campaigns can I register?

There's no hard limit. Most businesses need 1–3 campaigns. Register separate campaigns when your messaging use cases are genuinely different (e.g., marketing vs. appointment reminders).

What's the difference between 10DLC and toll-free verification?

Do Canadian numbers need 10DLC?

No. 10DLC is a US carrier requirement. Canadian numbers follow different regulations. However, if you send messages from a US local number to Canadian recipients, the US number still needs 10DLC registration.

My brand was verified but my campaign was rejected. Do I need to re-register the brand?

No. Brand and campaign registrations are independent. Fix the campaign-level issue and resubmit the campaign. Your brand registration stays valid.

Can I use one campaign for multiple JustCall numbers?

Yes. Assign as many numbers as you need to a single campaign. All numbers under that campaign share the same throughput limits and use case.

What happens if I ignore 10DLC registration?

Your messages will be increasingly filtered and blocked. T-Mobile charges daily non-compliance fees ($10/day per unregistered number). AT&T and Verizon aggressively filter unregistered traffic. Delivery rates will continue to deteriorate.

How do I check my registration status?

Go to Settings → Compliance Centre → 10DLC Registration. Your brand status and each campaign status are displayed with timestamps and any rejection reasons.
