Setting Up an IVR Menu (Interactive Voice Response)

An IVR menu lets callers navigate your phone system by pressing keys — for example, "Press 1 for Sales, Press 2 for Support." Here is how to set it up.

Available on: All plans

Enable IVR

  1. Go to Phone Numbers and select your number.
  2. Under Incoming Calls, find IVR (Call Menu).
  3. Toggle it on (disabled by default).

Configure menu options

For each key press option:

  1. Add an option using the +Add option button.
  2. Set the audio prompt — type text for text-to-speech or upload a custom MP3 recording.
  3. Configure the forwarding destination for each option.
  4. Set what happens for unanswered calls within each option.

To remove an option, click Remove next to it.

Upload custom IVR audio

You can upload a custom MP3 file to replace the text-to-speech prompt for any menu option.

Test your IVR

Use the Simulate button to test your call flow without making a real call. This lets you verify the menu options and routing before going live.
