Porting FAQs
Porting FAQs
Answers to the most common questions about bringing your existing phone numbers to JustCall.
What happens to my number during porting?
Your number stays active with your current provider until the port completes. No downtime — you won't miss calls or messages.
Can I port a number from any country?
Yes, with the appropriate ownership verification documents. Each country has distinct regulations. JustCall shows you the applicable fees and required documents during the porting flow.
Can I port a number that's currently active?
Yes — the number must be active with your current carrier. Disconnected or recently cancelled numbers cannot be ported.
Can I port a recently disconnected number?
No. The number must be currently active. Contact your carrier to reactivate it before submitting a port request.
Can I port my Google Voice number?
Yes, for 10-digit US numbers only. You must unlock your number through your Google account first at google.com/voice/unlock.
What information do I need?
- Phone number(s) to port
- Customer Service Record (CSR) from your current provider
- Account number with your current carrier
- Port-out PIN (if applicable)
All information must exactly match your current provider's records.
How long does porting take?
Timeline varies by country. US and Canadian numbers typically take 2–3 weeks. SMS activation requires an additional 2–3 business days after the port completes.
How do I check porting status?
Contact JustCall support — updates are typically provided within 24–48 business hours.
Why was my port request denied?
Common reasons include:
- Outstanding fees with your current carrier
- Information mismatch between your LOA and carrier records
- Inactive number — must be active to port
- Unauthorized signer on the LOA
- Wrong port-out PIN — get the correct one from your carrier
- Missing account number — request from your current provider
- Unlocked Google Voice — unlock at google.com/voice/unlock first
- Resold account — request your CSR directly from the service provider
