Auto-Text After a Missed Call
Trigger: call.missed Action: Send SMS — "Hi {{caller_name}}, sorry we missed your call. A team member will reach out within the hour."

Confirmation After an Appointment Call

Filtering by call duration avoids sending follow-ups for accidental or very short calls.
Setting Up SMS Automation
- Go to Settings → Workflows → + Create Workflow.
- Select a call-based trigger (call.missed, call.completed, or voicemail.received).
- Add any conditions to filter when the SMS should send.
- Click + Add Action → Send SMS.
- Choose the sending JustCall number.
- Write your message using merge fields for personalization.
- Test the workflow, then activate it.
Best Practices
- Keep messages short. Aim for one to two sentences. Automated texts should feel helpful, not overwhelming.
- Include a clear next step. Tell the recipient what to do: reply, call back, or visit a link.
- Respect opt-outs. JustCall automatically honors STOP replies, but make sure your message does not pressure contacts who have opted out.
- Test with your own number first. Send a test SMS to yourself to check tone, merge field output, and delivery speed.
- Monitor send rates. If you are a high-volume team, check that your SMS throughput limits support the automation volume. See your plan's messaging limits under Settings → Numbers.
Combining SMS with Other Actions
Pair SMS actions with other steps in the same workflow:
- Send SMS to the caller and notify the agent on Slack.
- Send SMS to the caller and log the follow-up in your CRM.
