AI Action Items
Promises made during a call are easy to forget once the next call starts. JustCall AI listens for commitments and extracts them as action items so nothing slips through the cracks.
How Action Item Detection Works
- A call is completed and transcribed.
- AI scans the transcript for commitments, promises, and to-do statements from both the agent and the customer.
- Each detected action item is categorized, assigned a suggested owner, and linked to the call record.
Examples of statements AI detects as action items:
- "I will send you the pricing proposal by end of day."
- "Let me schedule a follow-up call for next Tuesday."
- "Can you email me the contract for review?"
- "I need to check with my manager and get back to you."
Viewing Action Items
In the Call Log
Open any call and select the Action Items tab. Each item includes:
- Description — What needs to be done.
- Suggested Assignee — The agent or customer who made the commitment.
- Status — Open, in progress, or completed.
- Source — A link to the exact transcript segment where the item was mentioned.
In the Action Items Dashboard
Go to AI Insights → Action Items for a consolidated view across all calls. Filter by:
- Agent
- Date range
- Status (open, completed, overdue)
- Priority
This gives managers visibility into outstanding commitments across the entire team.
Pushing Action Items to External Tools
CRM Integration
When CRM sync is enabled, action items can be pushed as tasks or to-do items in your CRM:
- Go to Settings → AI Features → Action Items.
- Toggle on Sync to CRM.
- Choose the CRM object type: task, activity, or custom field.
- Map fields as needed.
Action items appear in the CRM contact's timeline, keeping sales and support workflows connected.
Task Manager Integration
JustCall supports pushing action items to:
- Slack — Action items posted as messages in a channel or DM.
- Webhooks — Send action item data to any tool via HTTP POST.
- Email — Receive action items as email digests.
Follow-Up Reminders
For action items with a detected due date (for example, "by Friday"), JustCall sets an automatic reminder:
- The assigned agent receives a notification one day before the due date.
- Overdue items are highlighted in the Action Items dashboard.
- Managers can set up alerts for overdue items via Settings → AI Features → Action Item Alerts.
Editing and Dismissing Action Items
Not every detected item is relevant. Agents can:
- Edit the description or assignee to correct AI misinterpretations.
- Dismiss items that are not actionable (for example, casual conversation misread as a commitment).
- Mark complete when the task is done.
All edits are tracked for audit purposes.
Accuracy Tips
- Action items detected from clear, specific language are more accurate than vague statements.
- Calls with good audio quality produce better transcripts, which produce better action item detection.
- Review and correct action items for the first few weeks to develop confidence in the AI's accuracy for your team's conversation style.

AI Action Items are available on the Business plan and above, or as part of the AI add-on.
