Build an AI Voice Agent with AI

Automate with AI3 min readUpdated 2026-03-14

Describe what you need in plain language and JustCall generates a complete agent configuration — scripts, behavior, actions, and knowledge base suggestions. This is the fastest way to create an agent, especially if you are new to AI Voice Agent.

Available on: All AI Voice Agent plans.

How It Works

  1. Go to Dashboard > AI Voice Agent > Create Agent.
  2. Select Build with AI.
  3. Describe your agent in natural language. You can type or use voice dictation.

Example prompt:

"I need a receptionist for a dental office. The agent should answer questions about our hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm), accepted insurance (Delta, Cigna, Aetna), and book appointments on Google Calendar. Transfer urgent calls to the front desk at extension 101."

  1. The system generates:

    • Agent role and personality — based on your description
    • Call flow script — structured conversation path with greeting, discovery, resolution, and closing
    • Suggested actions — during-call and after-call actions (transfers, scheduling, SMS)
    • Knowledge base Q&A pairs — common questions and answers derived from your description
    • Custom flow logic — conditional branches for different caller needs
  2. Review every section. Edit anything that does not match your requirements.

  3. Click Create to save the agent.

Tips for Better Results

Be specific. The more detail you provide, the better the generated configuration:

VagueSpecific
"Answer customer questions""Answer questions about pricing, shipping times, and return policy. Our standard shipping is 3–5 business days. Returns accepted within 30 days."
"Transfer calls when needed""Transfer to sales team at extension 200 when the caller wants a custom quote over $5,000"

Include constraints. Tell the AI what the agent should not do:

"Never give medical advice. Never confirm appointment cancellations — always transfer cancellation requests to the office manager."

Name the business. The generated greeting and personality adapt to the business name and industry.

After Generation

The generated agent is identical to one built from scratch — every setting can be edited on the same tabs:

  • Behavior — refine the role, personality, and system prompt
  • Call Flow — adjust conversation pacing and greeting mode
  • Voice — change the voice, speed, and expressiveness
  • Knowledge Base — add URLs, files, or Q&A pairs beyond what the AI suggested
  • Actions — add or remove during-call and after-call actions
  • Advanced Settings — tune responsiveness, interruption sensitivity, and call limits
